INTRODUCTION

Hi, my name is Niels van Hasselaar.
It all started in the beginning of 2009 when Coldplay released their music video of ‘Life In Technicolor ii’. At 4 years old I became obsessed with the extravagant puppet performance on display. At the time I didn’t think much of it but this was the start of something burning inside of me.

I started taking drumming lessons a few years later and since I became aware of Kensington in 2016, I really took it seriously. 5 more years later at 17 I picked up the guitar and familiarized myself with Green Day. I also started to take piano and singing more seriously. Shortly after, I started playing in a band, Royal Secret as a drummer, but after a few years I noticed that I was writing more and more songs at home and I felt more free and creative doing that.

I was always seeking for more meaning and emotional depth in songs and over the course of the past few years I recorded and released some demos that led to the creation of Blueprint.

BLUEPRINT

The name is derived from my technical background and reflects my personality.
Blueprint is my passion project in which I aim to take people on an emotional roller coaster and bring them joy, laughter, reflection... I want to give them a happy experience with energetic live performances and bombastic productions. This is the spark that I carried with me since 2009.

With inspiration from bands like Coldplay, Green Day and Kensington, Blueprint mostly writes melancholic pop/rock with slight pop punk influences. You can listen to some demos HERE.

The current line-up consists of a main guitarist (guitar/vocals), me as frontman (vocals/guitar/piano) and a violinist (violin/vocals/keyboard), with ages ranging from 21 to 28. To complete this line-up we need a drummer and a bassist!

OUR VISION

With Blueprint, we want to go BIG!
Our long-term ambition is to play at festivals like Pinkpop, Sziget, Glastonbury and eventually massive concert halls like the Ziggo Dome, Gelredome and arenas all over the world, starting with small concert stages in the Netherlands and slowly making our way up. For that to happen we need proper planning and a healthy down-to-earth relationship with each other and our personal lives.

Our live shows will be energetic and bombastic with pyrotechnics on bigger occasions. We will play without backing tracks so that everything the audience can hear is being played live on stage by dedicated musicians and it will give us more opportunity to convey any kind of feeling.

Rehearsals will be productive and fun, and we will try to play as if we are already on stage! Therefore, we will practice with an in-ear monitor rig to really get into that magical space of live performing. We will rehearse 1-2 times a week with specific definite goals. The rehearsal space will be located somewhere around the province of Utrecht and its costs will be divided fairly amongst all band members.
